About the event
this 5 week course is located in over Tabley just outside of Knutsford. and runs for 5 weeks every Thursday morning 10-1130am it is suitable for all levels of experience.
Join Nikki and Mo for a yoga and embodiment session to create a foundation of physical and mental strength and gain self regulation tools for times in need. Feel the support of a group of parents experiencing a similar parenting journey. Neurodivergent children come with extra challenges which may impact our stress levels and send us into a sympathetic nervous system state. It’s really important to have time to go inwards and regulate our own nervous system. This will help us hold a calmer presence in the midst of the parenting challenges.
The session will consist of
- meditation and breathwork
- Yoga postures to strengthen our capacity for calm in a challenge
- Restorative yoga
- Embodiment practices
- Safe space group sharing
Meditation
Meditation can help us to become an observer of our reactions and find a way to create a pause between reaction and observation.
Yoga
As we strengthen the body and use the postures to explore sensation we can begin to make friends with the sensations that arise. This helps us to develop a tolerance and the capacity to breath into different sensations.
Embodiment.
Embodiment is as an active process of self-discovery that you renew and strengthen by repeatedly attending to your sensations, emotions, and instinctual movement impulses. Mindful body-awareness practices help you learn to sustain the focus of your attention on how your body feels or moves in the present moment.
Sharing circle
It is not compulsory to share yet we can find a safe space where our expression is accepted.
My name is Nikki I’m the founder of Manchester yoga central and have been teaching and studying yoga in various forms and meditation for over a decade. I am a mother of neurodivergent children also. My practice has really supported me in this journey and I definitely draw upon my own tool kit to regulate myself again when parenting becomes difficult. Becoming aware of our inner tension can be the first step In learning how to soften into the challenges of life so that we can minimise the effects on our own nervous system. I’m really looking forward to sharing this journey with you.
My name is Mo.
What started off as going to yoga classes a few times a week, began my journey on this holistic path. I found the way back to myself slowly and progressively, healing and nurturing the parts of me that got lost a long time ago.
I now teach local yoga classes, am a holistic health coach, have my own superfood business, practice shamanic and quantum healing, massage, teach embodiment workshops and facilitate women’s circles and sound-baths.
I’m also raising my three children, one of which was diagnosed with ASD when he was 5 years old. I know how stress can affect our parenting and feel that my yoga and embodiment practices are helping me to stay balanced, which in turn helps me to be a better mum. I love to be able to help other parents on their journey too.
