It’s important to say that we can easily romanticise indigenous cultures here in the West, yet life is often hard, ordinary, and riddled with the same kind of things we may experience in other parts of the world, BUT there is an intrinsic relationship with nature and the earth which is informed by long, strong, historical lineages and traditions relevant to all aspects of tribal life in these places.
The purpose of this ceremony is to allow us to gather together as one people and listen to some of those stories, as directly told by this remarkable young man, supported by his friend and mine, anthropologist Verónica Castro.
We will start by ceremonially offering Rapé, a tobacco based powder used for deep cleansing and purification of the energy centres. It is non hallucinogenic and completely legal…you may like to think of it as ceremonial ‘snuff’.
We will then drop into a ceremonial way of being together, listening to traditional Huni Kuin songs and stories, followed by a sharing of heart opening cacao, also led by Kawá.
Places are limited and this event is offered on a strictly ‘advance booking only’ basis to manage numbers for the rapé and cacao.
**All monies from ticket sales go directly to the Huni Kuin people, and the organisers and hosts make no profit from this event.**
